Meet our official Golden Gate Half Race Ambassadors!
Alys is a runner from the Northern California town of Chico who is so excited for her first year as a Golden Gate Half ambassador! She runs a variety of races throughout the year – from 5ks to her favorite distance, the half marathon – and has completed over 9 full marathons including Boston and New York. When she’s not racing, she loves running as a pacer to help others meet their goals. The Golden Gate Half In 2015 was her 7th half marathon, and now 2020 will be her 20th!
Alys lives with her husband Gary and their 2 cats, and is studying to become a Physician Assistant while working for a local hospital. She is First Aid certified, CPR certified, and a nationally registered EMT.
Celina is stoked to be an ambassador for The Golden Gate Half, a beautiful run in her very own hometown! Her love for running started in the 3rd grade when she joined track but she stopped running competitively in high school because she was embarrassed of her leg muscles and “tomboy” look. Now at the age of 41 and as a mother of 3, she embraces her runner legs and passion for running.
I am a retired police officer and a mother of boy/girl twins who are 13 years old. I currently conduct law enforcement backgrounds and model for a San Francisco Agency. I started my love of running when I was 15 years old and relocated from Germany to the USA. I began running for exercise as a teenager and quickly fell in love with the sport. I participated in running as a sport in high school. After high school, I continued running for exercise and stress relief. To date, I have run 22 marathons including the New Zealand Marathon in 2000. I have run countless 1/2 Marathons including my favorite; The Golden Gate Half Marathon, which I have run 3 times. I currently run at least 6 miles daily even during the COVID-19 shelter in place time. I own a running company called Lamorinda Mileage Club, which is geared towards educating elementary school-age children in a healthy lifestyle which includes exercise such as running.
Marie is originally from St. Louis, Missouri and went to the University of Notre Dame. She previously worked as a consultant in Chicago and moved to San Francisco last fall to work at an impacting investing firm. Since moving to California, she has loved getting the chance to begin to explore the outdoors, especially through running.
